High Performance Junior Program
The Penn AC High Performance Junior Program is a year-round initiative designed to support, develop, and prepare athletes to compete at the Youth National Championships.
The new, year-round, high-performance junior program, coached by Director of Junior Programs, Paul Coomes, welcomes high school aged rowers—currently attending 9th - 12th grade—from the greater Philadelphia community to train at Penn AC in the fall, winter, and spring. The program is not open to any students from tenant schools of Penn AC during seasons when those schools have an active rowing program.
Initially the program will focus on sculling and as the program grows, developing multidisciplinary athletes will be part of its mission.
At the conclusion of the Youth National Championships, the year-round athletes will have the opportunity to join the Penn AC Gold Summer Rowing Camp athletes from across the country to compete in several summer regattas.
Penn AC is well known for its dedication to high-performance rowing at the senior level. In the last two decades, the Penn AC Gold Summer Rowing Camp developed into one of the most successful junior summer rowing camps in the United States. This year-round junior program is a continuation of Penn AC’s commitment to high-performance rowing.
