U23 Men’s Sculling Program Overview
In 2017, Penn AC will once again focus on men’s sculling for its U23 team, with a cap of just 12 men, lead by Penn AC Head Coach Sean Hall. The Penn AC U23 Men’s Program provides the best collegiate athletes with the opportunity to further develop their training and racing experience by racing at the most competitive regattas during the summer, including U23 National Team Trials. The program seeks to help athletes advance all aspects of training development so that they may return to their collegiate program as a top athlete.

The Penn AC U23 Program offers a comprehensive program which provides a daily schedule that simulates the training schedule of pre-elite and elite athletes. The daily practice schedule and practice times will be given to athletes who are accepted to the program:
Athletes will practice on the water two times a day, weather permitting. Penn AC has designed a training program that is balanced and allows athletes to recover and progress throughout the summer. On-the-water sessions will be dedicated to rowing technique, aerobic and anaerobic conditioning, as well as racing and regatta preparation. The Penn AC U23 Program will also have scheduled sessions to train and race alongside the High Performance Group. This is a unique experience that is not offered by any other summer program.
Athletes will be able to rub shoulders with Penn AC’s current High Performance Group, as well as former Olympians and National Team members in the general club membership. All of Penn AC’s members are happy to provide insight on what it takes to be an elite sculler and how to make the transition to full-time training after college.
For 2017, Penn AC will accept male applications for the following*:
|*Athletes must be at least 19 years of age, graduated from high school, and have at least 1 year of collegiate racing experience. All athletes must submit an ECG, as per the US Rowing requirements. US Rowing ECG Screening|
