No Experience Necessary!!
Penn AC recognizes that many people in Philadelphia and the surrounding communities drive by Boathouse Row and the Schuylkill River on a consistent basis and see the rowing shells on the water and think to themselves, “I would love to try that”. Penn AC’s Fall Adult Learn-to-Row classes are open to the public, help to open the doors to Boathouse Row and are designed for those who have always wanted to try rowing to give it a try. You do not need to be a member of the Club to register for and participate in the classes. Again, no experience is necessary!
Two levels of adult learn-to-row classes will be offered in the Fall of 2017 – Adult Level 1 and Adult Level 2. Each class is 4 weeks in length and will be offered during two different sessions. Session 1 starts on Sept 17th and Session 2 starts on Oct 15th. All classes take place on Sundays during two different time slots – 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM and 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM. Adult Level 1 is a class designed to teach those with no rowing experience the basics of sculling. The classes will focus on teaching proper boat handling, the basics of sculling, and boathouse etiquette. Adult Level 2 is a class designed to build upon on the sculling basics learned in Level 1, making you a more confident and competent sculler. Our hope is you leave Level 2 with a new appreciation for the sport of rowing and a desire to continue rowing beyond these classes, maybe even at Penn AC!
